February Glossy Box Review

I've been looking forward to my glossy box arriving all week, so when the post man came this morning I rushed down to open it up just in time (before I had to go for my driving lesson.) This months box was The Fashion Week Edition, my first impression during those few minutes wasn't great, I think the delight of opening the December box to all those huge bright and colourful tubes and pots has ruined it really. However, when I got home this evening to look at them all properly and take pictures etc, they all really grew on me.

By the way, glossy box is a monthly personal beauty box with five selected beauty products. You can create a beauty profile online including your skin type, colours and favourite types of product. It costs £10 a month (not including p+p) and is sent right to your front door so you can try everything out in the comfort of your own home.  Glossy box also do great seasonal boxes, for example Christmas and Valentine's, I definitely recommend it! Also, they now have glossy box for men,  which include great brands such as, Anthony (my favourite men's brand!!) Goldwell, Murad, Yves Saint Laurent etc.

  - I'm still really bad at taking photographs of objects to make it look all artistic like other bloggers but I don't really care if they're all scewiff, blurry and have bad lighting.

Dr Bronner Magic Liquid Soap - 18-in-1 Almond soap made with organic oils. This little bottle smells lovely, like marzipan, it's gorgeous. It has lots of information on the label, mostly gibberish about 'body-mind-soul-spirit and teach the 'essene' (typo?) Moral ABC uniting all free in the shepherd astronomer Israel's greatest ALL-ONE-GOD-FAITH' what the hell is all that about?! Other than that, it has some great advice. You can dab it on a towel, soaked in hot water to use on your face, scalp and body and within 9 minutes you feel fresh and clean, saving 90% of your hot water and soap. It has loads of eco friendly stuff and supports farmers. I don't normally go into such detail about the packaging but this label has so much to it, I'm a bit scared to try it now, it has a lot to live up to!

BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow - I got the shade called platinum Tiara, which is like a grey with gold metallic bits in it. I haven't tried it yet but it looks nice and i prefer grey eye shadows to any other colour. Nice to get a make up item too.

Duwop Venom Gloss - I got this in the colour called buttercup, really good colour. It is quite nude which is what I prefer with nails and lips right now! It does give that really great venom tingle sensation to plump your lips up! Definitely going to be using this all the time now.

Como Shambhala Invigorate Body Lotion - Another body lotion to add to my collection, not always a bad thing. It smells a bit strange but feels really nice on my skin, I also noticed that this was also in the May 2011 glossy box, so I'm glad I didn't start getting boxes until after that otherwise I'd be annoyed to see it again. I've kind of given this to my mum because I have absolutely masses of body butters to get through, that I got at christmas and my birthday, still nice to try it though!

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm - The name doesn't give anything away, it's actually an intense hydrating treatment for your hair. It apparently soothes and controls, this is handy for me because sometimes I get static hair due to the air condition during the winter especially when I'm at work with all the clothes everywhere! I love the skinny bottle, as I can take it everywhere now.

Overall, I'm pleased with the box, obviously at first it's an anti climax because I'm kind of hoping to see some Xen Tan products or something but no, I'm really happy and can't wait to use all the products. Thanks Glossy Box.

Also, it had a little card saying to check from 24th February, because there's going to be a mystery box. I've no idea what it's about but yeah, check the glossy box website from 24th Feb!!

I'm not normally so attracted to spread sheets in fashion magazines but I absolutely love Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer '12 campaign using newish models Kati Nescher and Daria Strokous.

I really love their whole collection and I was so excited to see, in February's month of my Elle subscription, Dakota Fanning wearing it! She is definitely my favourite style icon at the moment (despite her being younger than me, she is still so stylish.) I think it's her bright blonde curls and pearly white skin that I envy the most.

This outfit is perfect, the Broderie anglaise collar, cotton shirt and leather skirt are definitely my favourite from all the collection.  Doesn't she just look amazing?

Stella Mccartney Sam Silk Satin Playsuit Lingerie, Michael Kors Espresso chronograph watch & Nars Kuroko Kabuki Collection.

Very soon I might just have to purchase these items. The Nars nail polish collection is the more realistic option than the highly expensive underwear but, I still can't resist any of them. My boyfriend doesn't do Valentine's day either so I won't be getting any nice surprises any time soon. I also have a couple of much needed summer holidays to be saving up for so it will be even harder to put some extra cash aside for these. I will probably be wanting something else by the time that happens anyway.
Asos are giving five people the chance to win up to £500 of their Save Items list, so I have taken full advantage of this opportunity and spent about an hour and a half last night carefully choosing and adding up mine. Some of mine include a gorgeous navy blue fisherman jumper by Ralph Lauren and some OPI nail varnishes.

January 2012 - Valentines Day Special GlossyBox

Hi, my name is Fi or Fiona, I'm 19 and I'm hopefully going to be studying Chinese and Business & Management at the University of Manchester in September. I took a year out to earn some money and re-sit a couple of exams and I now currently have a job at Hobbs.
This is my first ever blog, I thought I'd write a few reviews on Glossy Boxes to get started. Like most girls I love cosmetics, particularly nail polish, skin care and make-up.  So I thought I'd write about them too because in the future I'd love to be a buyer for Sephora or something.

I absolutely adore GlossyBox and the whole concept of it, I know there are other beauty boxes such as Carmine but I haven't tried those. I am definitely always going to stick to GlossyBox and I don't see the point in trying any other beauty boxes (unless they were a present.)

There has been a lot of disappointment regarding this month's glossy box, I have only had two before this one and I definitely wasn't disheartened because I love the fact I get a treat every month.
I did, however, absolutely adore the Christmas special one, they really went all out on that one. I'll do a quick review on that one just to compare the two boxes.

I apologise for the bad pictures by the way, this one was off my phone and the rest are off my dad's really good camera. I'm just not great at taking pictures of objects in a fancy artistic way.

Rituals Foaming Sensation Shower Gel Yogi Flow
This shower gel is gorgeous! The smell is so fruity and stays on my body all day long. As it foams up, personally, I find it works well as a shaving gel.

Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle and Stripper to Go Sachet
The nail varnish is perfect, best christmas colour and good for a night time nail too. Really got it right with that one. The nail varnish removing mitten is really good, it doesn't seem like it's harming your nails at all and is really quick at taking the varnish off.

Nouveau Lashes Noir Msacara
I use the mascara daily but will have to get rid of it in a couple of weeks because I don't like to keep mascara for very long, especially because I have contact lenses. It's pretty good, I've had a Chanel one before and that was amazing so I'm always quite critical with mascaras now.

Fab Essential Face Cleanser
The face wash actually works wonders, it reduces redness after I use it and in the morning I always wake up fresh faced by using this in my skin care routine.

Cargo Classic LipGloss
Finally, the little lip gloss. It's such a cute colour and it stays shiny for a long time which is really handy. It's easy to pop out and re-apply though throughout the day.

The January Valentine's special Glossy Box:

(Another apology for my photography)

I love the hot pink box this month because now I have a light pink one, red and hot pink boxes which look really good in a pile in my room. It looks nice and full and I like the little extra GlossyBox sweet we all got too.

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer £29 30ml
This primer is actually a little bit too dark for me, I'm not really pale but during the winter I like to stay my natural colour on my face so that my make-up doesn't look too heavy. I have only tried this primer once but I'll give it another chance because it is supposed to good.

Davines Moisturising Balm £17.40 150ml
I haven't used this as a hair wash because I don't tend to use things that moisturises my hair because my hair doesn't get dry, if anything it will get greasy quicker. But it works well on your body and face and has quite a nice lavender smell to it!

Davines Moisturising Nectar £18.25 250ml
Wow, another Body and hair wash in this GlossyBox! This also smells lovely and work really well on your body and is quite creamy on my skin.

FAB Gentle Body Wash £10 226.8g
I haven't tried this yet but I do love FAB cosmetics, it smells lovely though and I'm really excited to try it. I will have to keep some body washes aside because I have got sooo many in my shower and bathroom.

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner £9.50 per pencil
I absolutely love the design of  this eyeliner, it's so elegant and sleek. I got this eyeliner in the powder pink colour. Admittedly,  I have actually swapped it with a girl who really wanted that shade because she had the plum colour eyeliner. I have naturally blonde hair but very dark brown eyes so plum looks lovely. It's so lovely and creamy and neat and so easy to apply!

Thank you GlossyBox, I can't wait for the next one!
